Are you passionate about maps, data, and AI? Do you want to be part of a small but bold team redefining how we interact with geospatial information? At NaLaMap, we’re building the next generation of WebGIS — open-source, AI-powered, and free to use for everyone. Join us as an intern (or working student) for a limited amount of time and learn how to make geospatial technology smarter, more intuitive, and radically more accessible.

🧠 About NaLaMap

NaLaMap is an open-source platform that revolutionizes geospatial data analysis and map creation through a natural language interface. Users can upload, visualize, and analyze geographic data, retrieve data and information from public portals and create their own applications. Everything is done with natural language (chat) and an AI agent to automate workflows — no coding required.

We showcased NaLaMap at FOSS4G Europe 2025 in Mostar, and are now in conversations with public institutions working in the development and conservation sectors, interested in adopting NaLaMap for their geospatial applications. As we enter a dynamic phase with lots of showcasing, we’re curating a high-quality open data library to power our demo platform — and we need your help to make it shine.

🚀 Your Mission

• Research and curate high-quality open geospatial datasets (biodiversity, climate, infrastructure, socio-economy, etc.)
• Process and style datasets using QGIS or similar tools
• Manage data in GeoServer and PostGIS
• Create metadata and evaluation sets for testing AI performance
• Test NaLaMap’s frontend: upload data, chat with the AI, and build web maps
• Compare human vs. AI-generated content such as metadata, geocoding or processing results (OpenAI, Gemini, DeepSeek, Mistral)
• Provide user-focused feedback on features, UX, and functionality
• Optional: Explore alternative front- and backend technologies like MapLibre GL

• Flexible hours, fully remote — you set your schedule and decide how much time you would like to allocate to this project.
• Note on compensation: As a pre-seed startup without capital or revenue streams, we currently cannot offer financial remuneration. However, this position offers significant learning opportunities, increased job-market fit in an AI-driven world, and potential for future paid roles as we secure funding
